My bed spread is black and white and my sheets are maroon. What color would look good in this combination?
I was thinking like a light yellow or a mellow brown. Any ideas or paint swatch codes I could look up would be great!
Thanks in advance!

I think I’d go with the light yellow. Brown might be too dark with the maroon and black.
whatever color u paint it make sure it is a light color, it makes the room look bigger
hmm maybe mustardish but maroon will blend in nicely with the sheets ^-^
i would go with a really light yellow
Well if you’re room isn’t horribly small, you could have the maroon on the wall where your headboard is and then do a very light yellow or very light brown on the other 3 walls. Be aware that it will take at least 4 coats of the maroon to get it the right colour (it looks pink for the first two!).
You could also do a darkish gray on that wall and a very light gray for the rest, leaving your maroons as the accent colour for the rest of the room’s accessories. (I’m one for bolder use of colours and paint haha)
What you can do is take a photo of your room and then bring it into a graphics program and then colour the walls in there to get an idea of what will work. (You didn’t mention what colour the floor was either – or if it’s a big/small or bright/dark room)
If you want to stick with one colour for the whole room, then I’d probably go for a warm light brown over a yellow, but that’s just me! (If I had that bedspread and sheets, I’d stick with the grays, blacks, whites and maroons and chromes – but like I said, I’m more for the bold look haha)
This is just an example of what I mean by the one wall with a bold colour and the rest lighter (not the colours I’m suggesting, just the idea) – http://image.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Travel/Pix/pictures/2007/01/17/Bedroom460.jpg
Have fun and good luck
Black and white are your neutral colors with the maroon giving the color. So I would say that if you want more color on your walls I’d say something w/ the maroon’s red family.
Maybe a light gray that has more reds and yellows than blues. Maybe something like this: the color in the top search section of this page:
http://www.colourlovers.com/palettes/search?hsv=&sortType=rank&sortBy=asc&query=&hex=AB9C96&lover=&hueOption0=&hueOption1=&hueOption2=&x=48&y=4
It’s a little murky. i think you could lighten up the color a little more… But it is pretty dark though and would darken up your room. (or perhaps the color in the roomandboard link below).
Or you could try the opposite direction and do a very pale blue
http://www.colourlovers.com/palettes/search?hsv=&sortType=rank&sortBy=asc&query=&hex=EBFEFF&lover=&hueOption0=&hueOption1=&hueOption2=&x=43&y=10
and get a (or some) throw pillows that use both maroons/reds and pale blues that link those 2 colors together – kind of like this pillow beow if the orange was maroon (though this orange might work as well):

Have you considered a gray paint color? I think a light to medium gray would compliment the other colors you’re using and give the room a calm, restful feeling.
hello,
Ever think of a two tone? top half one color and bottom half another color or 2/3 and 1/3 or something like that?
i say “fire truck RED”.
try: http://www.sherwin-williams.com/search/color?pagecolor=3&pagediy=&pagecorp=&pagepro=#homeowner-results ok?
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/index.html#d=f;c=6880 cool.

Now here is a good two tone 2/3 top and 1/3 bottom (or just one color): http://www.sherwin-williams.com/search/fussy in the order they are on the page.

“Lakeside Mist” or “Snowdrop” are two light aqua colors by Behr that would look great with the black and white. Get new sheets.
Otherwise go with a very pale pink on the walls.
I would suggest you go with either “Restrained Gold” or “Golden Fleece”. These colors are from the Sherwin William’s paint site, under the color visualizer section. I think it will be a nice rich addition to your current colors. They will coordinate beautifully. For art work on your walls I would recommend using black frames. I hope you will enjoy your room! Good luck.
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

There’s a shade of gold called “sequin” (# 6394) that would look stunning with what you’ve described.
